Casino CPA vs Revshare: How to Choose the Right Deal for Your Traffic

Casino CPA vs revshare for iGaming affiliates: how your traffic source, country and player quality decide the better deal, when hybrid fits, and an illustrated comparison.

Our general guide to CPA vs revshare explains the two models. This one goes a step further for casino and betting: how to decide which deal fits YOUR traffic, and what to look for in each so the deal does not surprise you later.

There is no universally better deal. There is a better deal for a given traffic source, country and player type.

The three deal types in one table

DealYou are paidGood forWatch out for
CPAA fixed amount per qualified playerFast cash flow, paid traffic, testingQualification rules, caps, quality reviews
RevshareA share of net revenue from your players, over timeSEO, owned audiences, long-term incomeNegative carryover, admin fees, slow start
HybridA smaller CPA plus a smaller revshareMixed traffic, building trust with a brandTwo sets of conditions to read

What should decide your choice

Your traffic source

Paid media needs money back quickly to fund the next campaign, so CPA usually fits. SEO sites and Telegram channels bring players slowly but steadily, which is where revshare can build up over time.

Your cash flow

Revshare pays little in the first months. If you need income now, a CPA or hybrid deal is safer, even if the long-term total might be lower.

Player quality

If your players stay and play within their means for a long time, revshare reflects that. If you are not sure yet, CPA lets you learn without waiting months.

The country

Deal terms and what counts as a qualified player differ by country. Some brands only offer one model in some markets. See iGaming GEOs explained.

An illustrated comparison

These numbers are made up for the maths only, not real or typical terms. Imagine 20 qualified players a month on a CPA of 100 each: 2,000 per month, paid soon after qualification.

On revshare at 30%, the same players would need to produce about 6,700 of net revenue in a month to match it. Some months they will produce more, some less, and in a month where players win, revenue can be negative.

  • CPA: predictable, paid once per player, no upside if players stay for years.
  • Revshare: unpredictable, slow to start, grows with every month of active players.
  • Hybrid: a bit of both, often used when a brand and an affiliate are still getting to know each other.

What to read in each deal

  1. 1CPA: the qualifying conditions (minimum deposit, wagering, time window), monthly caps and the right to review quality.
  2. 2Revshare: how net revenue is calculated, admin fees and whether negative carryover applies.
  3. 3Both: payment threshold, payment schedule, prohibited traffic sources and what happens if the deal ends.
  4. 4Both: whether the brand may change terms, and how much notice it gives.

Our guide to reading iGaming affiliate terms covers each clause. This is general information; for a contract you sign, ask a professional.

A sensible way to start

Many affiliates start new traffic on CPA or hybrid to learn what their players are worth, then move proven sources to revshare once they have a few months of data. Whatever you pick, the rules stay the same: licensed brands, legal countries, adults only, no promised wins and no targeting of people at risk.

FAQ

Is CPA or revshare better for casino affiliates?+

It depends on your traffic. CPA suits paid media and fast cash flow, revshare suits steady organic traffic with players who stay. Hybrid sits in between.

What is a hybrid deal in iGaming?+

A deal that pays a smaller fixed amount per qualified player plus a smaller share of net revenue. It spreads the risk for both sides.

Can revshare earnings be negative?+

A month's net revenue can be negative if players win. Whether that is carried into the next month depends on the negative carryover clause in your terms.

Can I switch from CPA to revshare later?+

Often, by agreement with the brand or network. Usually only new players move to the new deal; check the terms.
