How Often to Post on Social Media: Finding the Right Pace for Each Platform

How often to post on social media as a promoter: starting ranges per platform, how to find your own pace from your numbers, and why steady beats a burst followed by silence.

There is no magic number. Anyone who tells you "post exactly three times a day" is guessing for your account. What there is: sensible starting ranges per platform, and a simple way to find your own pace from your own numbers.

The answer also depends on what you can keep up. A pace you hold for six months beats a perfect pace you hold for two weeks. This guide gives the starting ranges, the method to adjust them and the signs you are posting too much.

Starting ranges by platform

These are common starting points that experienced promoters use, not rules from the platforms. Begin at the low end and move up only when quality holds.

PlatformStarting rangeWhy
TikTok1 to 3 videos a dayEach video is judged on its own; more tries means more chances
Instagram Reels4 to 7 a weekReels need editing time; quality matters more than count
Instagram StoriesSeveral a day on posting daysStories expire and keep you at the front of the tray
X3 to 10 posts and replies a dayThe feed moves fast; replies count as activity
RedditA few posts a week across communitiesEach subreddit has its own limits; spam rules are strict
Telegram channel3 to 7 posts a weekFollowers get every post; too many cause mutes
YouTube Shorts3 to 7 a weekSimilar to Reels; can reuse edited clips

Platform-specific timing is covered in our guides on the best time to post on TikTok and the best time to post on Instagram.

How to find your own pace

  1. 1Pick a pace you can hold for four weeks without rushing posts. Write it in your content calendar.
  2. 2Track per post: reach, link clicks and the result you are paid on. Reach alone isn't enough.
  3. 3After four weeks, raise the pace by a step (say from 4 to 6 a week) for another four weeks.
  4. 4Compare clicks per week, not per post. If weekly clicks went up and quality held, keep the new pace.
  5. 5If clicks per post fell sharply while weekly clicks stayed flat, you added volume without value. Go back a step.

Signs you are posting too much

  • Clicks per post keep dropping week after week.
  • Unfollows or channel leaves rise after posting days.
  • You repost the same thing because there is nothing new.
  • Moderators remove posts or warn you for frequency. On Reddit that is a signal to slow down at once; see why Reddit posts get removed.
  • Your own quality slips: rushed edits, copy-paste captions.

Signs you are posting too little

  • Almost every post performs about the same, and you can't learn anything because the sample is tiny.
  • Followers forget you: engagement dips at the start of each post after a long gap.
  • You have more content ready than you publish.

Going quiet for a while and then posting ten times in one day is the worst pattern of all. It doesn't make up for the gap, and the burst often looks like spam to the platform. Steady wins.

New accounts and several accounts

A brand-new account should start slower than these ranges and build up, because sudden heavy activity from a new account is a common spam signal. The account warm-up plan shows a gradual ramp. If you run several accounts, set a pace per account rather than one total, and make sure each still has original posts.

When you promote with AMZA, your Wingman sends new content each week and looks at the weekly numbers with you, which makes it easier to tell whether a higher pace is paying off.

FAQ

How often should I post on social media?+

It depends on the platform and what you can sustain. Common starting points are 1 to 3 TikToks a day, 4 to 7 Reels a week, several X posts a day and a few Telegram posts a week. Then adjust from your own numbers.

Is posting every day too much?+

Not on fast platforms like TikTok or X. On a Telegram channel or a small subreddit, daily posts can be too much. Watch clicks per post and unfollows to tell.

Does posting more get more reach?+

Up to a point. More posts give more chances, but if quality drops, each post reaches fewer people and weekly results stay flat.

What if I miss a few days?+

Pick up at your normal pace. Don't try to catch up with a burst; it doesn't recover the gap and can look like spam.
