OnlyFans Promotion Budget: How to Plan Spend as a Promoter
How to plan an OnlyFans promotion budget as a promoter: what costs money, what's free, how to test small, when to spend more and how to stop paid traffic eating your earnings.
You can promote 18+ creators with almost no money and a lot of time, or with more money and less time. Most promoters end up somewhere in between. The danger isn't spending; it's spending without knowing what came back.
This guide breaks a promotion budget into its parts, shows a simple way to test spend, and gives an illustration of the maths. All numbers here are made-up examples, not prices or rates.
What actually costs money
| Cost | Needed? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Your time | Always | The biggest cost, even if you don't pay yourself |
| Phones, SIMs, verification | Often | See [phone verification for accounts](/blog/phone-verification-for-accounts) |
| Proxies | Only for several accounts | See [how to choose a proxy provider](/blog/how-to-choose-a-proxy-provider) |
| Scheduling and tracking tools | Helpful | Many have free tiers |
| Shoutouts and paid placements | Optional | Test small first |
| Paid ads | Rarely | Most ad networks restrict adult offers; check their rules |
| Helpers or posters | When scaling | See [how to pay a promotion team](/blog/how-to-pay-a-promotion-team) |
The free routes, organic posting on Reddit, X and Telegram, cost time, not money. Many promoters run only those for months before spending anything. See free vs paid traffic.
A simple way to split a budget
Split whatever you have into three pots, and only move money between them on evidence:
- 1Base: what keeps your accounts running (verification, tools). Paid every month.
- 2Proven: sources that earned more than they cost in past tests. Most of the variable money goes here.
- 3Test: a small, fixed amount for new sources. When it's spent, testing stops until next month.
An illustration of the maths
Illustration only, with invented numbers: you buy a shoutout for 50. Its tracking link brings 200 clicks and 8 subscribers. Over the next 30 days you can see what those 8 spend and what your share of it is. If your share is above 50, the shoutout paid; if it's below, it didn't, however good the clicks looked.
| Measure | Formula | Example (invented) |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per click | Spend ÷ clicks | 50 ÷ 200 = 0.25 |
| Cost per subscriber | Spend ÷ subscribers | 50 ÷ 8 = 6.25 |
| Return | Your earnings from them ÷ spend | Above 1 = it paid |

When to spend more, and when to stop
- Spend more on a source that paid back at least twice in a row, and raise it in steps, not all at once.
- Hold when results are mixed or the sample is tiny.
- Stop a source that didn't pay back after a fair test, even if you liked it.
- Stop everything new when you can't track where results come from.
Wait long enough to see what subscribers spend before deciding. A source judged after one day is judged on noise. A useful habit is a fixed review day each week: look at every paid source, mark it spend more, hold or stop, and write one line on why. A month of those notes tells you more about your budget than any single result.
Keep the budget honest
Write every cost down, including small ones, in the same sheet as your results. At the end of each month compare total spend with total earnings. Taxes on promotion income are their own topic; affiliate income taxes basics is general information, and a professional should answer your own case. AMZA promoters can go through spend and results with their Wingman during the weekly review.
FAQ
How much should I spend promoting OnlyFans?+
There's no right number. Start with free organic posting, then set a small fixed test budget for paid sources and only increase what proves it pays back.
Can I promote OnlyFans for free?+
Yes. Organic posting on Reddit, X and Telegram costs time rather than money, and many promoters start that way.
Do Google or Meta ads work for OnlyFans promotion?+
Mainstream ad networks generally restrict adult offers. Read each network's current ad policies before trying; never disguise what an ad leads to.
How long before I judge a paid shoutout?+
Long enough to see what the new subscribers spend, often several weeks. Clicks on day one tell you little about money.
