Content Pillars for Promoters: Plan a Month of Posts in One Sitting

Content pillars for promoters explained: what they are, how to pick three to five, example pillar sets for music, creators and iGaming, a weekly mix table and how to retire weak pillars.

Staring at a blank screen every day asking "what do I post?" is how promoters burn out. Content pillars end that. They are three to five recurring themes your account always posts about. Every post belongs to one pillar, so planning becomes filling slots, not inventing from scratch.

Pillars also help the audience. When an account has clear themes, people know what they get by following. This guide shows how to pick pillars, gives example sets for different programs and shows how to mix them across a week.

What a good pillar looks like

A pillar is broad enough to give you dozens of posts and narrow enough that your audience recognises it. Test each candidate with three questions:

  • Can I list 20 post ideas for it right now?
  • Does it answer a want or pain from my audience research?
  • Does at least part of it lead naturally to the thing I promote?

If the answer to any of these is no, it's a one-off topic, not a pillar.

Example pillar sets

Notice that only one pillar in each set is a direct promotion. The rest earn attention and trust so that promotion lands. For 18+ creators, see SFW content for promotion; for gambling, responsible gambling for affiliates.

How to pick yours, step by step

  1. 1Write down every topic you could post about. Aim for 15 or more.
  2. 2Group similar topics. Each group is a pillar candidate.
  3. 3Run each candidate through the three questions above.
  4. 4Keep three to five. Fewer is easier to stay consistent with.
  5. 5Give each pillar a short name and two or three formats it uses (clip, carousel, text post).

Mixing pillars across a week

A simple rule: no more than one in four posts is a direct call to action. Here is an illustration of a seven-post week:

DayPillarFormat
MonBehind the scenesShort video
TueConversationPoll or question
WedMain value pillarCarousel or clip
ThuCall to actionClip with link in bio mention
FriBehind the scenesShort video
SatMain value pillarClip
SunConversationReply video or story

Drop the mix into your content calendar and the whole month is planned in one sitting.

Review and retire pillars

Tag every post with its pillar in your tracking sheet. Once a month, compare pillars by reach, engagement and clicks. A pillar that loses on every number for two months gets replaced. A pillar that wins on clicks deserves an extra slot. Your engagement rate per pillar is a quick way to compare them.

When you promote with AMZA, your Wingman sends fresh content each week, and sorting it into your pillars makes the week's plan almost automatic.

FAQ

What are content pillars?+

They are three to five recurring themes an account always posts about. Every post fits one pillar, which makes planning easier and tells the audience what to expect.

How many content pillars should I have?+

Three to five. Fewer is easier to keep consistent; more makes the account feel scattered.

Should every pillar promote something?+

No. Usually one pillar carries the direct call to action and the others build attention and trust. A common rule is no more than one in four posts as a direct promotion.

When should I change my content pillars?+

When a pillar underperforms on reach, engagement and clicks for about two months, or when your audience research shows interests have shifted.
