How to Build a Marketing Portfolio as a Promoter (Even in 18+ Niches)

How to build a marketing portfolio as a promoter: what to include, showing results honestly, keeping 18+ work private and SFW, and a simple one-page format programs read.

When you apply to a program, a team or a client, they want to know one thing: can you bring results? A portfolio answers that faster than any message. It shows what you made, where it ran and what happened.

Promoters have a special problem: a lot of the work is under pen names, in 18+ niches or on accounts you can't share. This guide shows how to build a portfolio anyway, honestly and without exposing anyone.

What goes into a promoter's portfolio

PieceWhat it showsFormat
Short introWho you are, which platforms, what traffic3โ€“4 sentences
Work samplesYour creative skill3โ€“6 SFW posts or clips
Results snapshotsThat your work moved numbersRanges or before / after, with dates
One short case write-upHow you thinkProblem, what you tried, what happened
Skills and toolsWhat you can do from day oneA short list
ContactHow to reach youOne work email

Short beats long. A one-page document or a simple page with links is enough.

Order matters too. Put your strongest result near the top, right after the intro, because many readers only skim the first screen. Keep the language plain: say what you did and what happened, not how passionate you are. And make sure every link opens without a login, or the reader will simply move on to the next application.

Showing results honestly

Your numbers are your strongest proof, and the easiest to damage. Never edit screenshots, invent figures or claim someone else's results. Experienced managers spot it, and one caught lie ends the conversation.

  • Use real exports or screenshots from platform or tracking dashboards.
  • Show the period: "over 8 weeks", not just a total.
  • Ranges are fine when exact numbers are private ("clicks per week in the low thousands").
  • Include a test that didn't work and what you learned; it shows judgement.

Keeping 18+ and private work safe

Adult and gambling work is legal 18+ work, but it needs care in a portfolio:

  1. 1Only SFW samples. Never put explicit material in a portfolio. Choose teaser-style posts or blur them.
  2. 2Ask permission before showing a creator's or brand's content, and never show content you're not allowed to share.
  3. 3Hide personal data: usernames of fans, customers or messages.
  4. 4Anonymise when needed: "an 18+ creator on X" or "a licensed casino brand" is enough.
  5. 5Keep pen names separate if you don't want your real name tied to those accounts; share details privately once trust exists.

No experience yet? Make your own samples

Everyone starts with an empty portfolio. Fill it with work you create on purpose:

  • Grow a small account in a topic you like for six to eight weeks and document it.
  • Re-edit public clips you're allowed to use into short videos to show editing skill.
  • Write five caption sets for a made-up product and label them as samples.
  • Plan a sample campaign: audience, platform, links built with the tracking link builder, what you'd measure.

Label practice work clearly. "Sample campaign" is honest; implying it was a paid job is not.

Using the portfolio

Attach or link it when you apply to an affiliate program, approach a team or answer a remote marketing job. Update it every quarter and drop older, weaker pieces. If you apply to AMZA, a short version of this is exactly what helps us match you with the right program and Wingman; you can apply here.
